A few people have said that the new Meguiars W66 backing plate works great with the purple foamed wool 6.5" pad. I believe (but I'm not sure about this one.. someone please correct me if I'm wrong) that the W66 plate will work on pads from 6" to about 7.5". If you're going to be spending money on a backing plate, this is probably the one you'll want to get.

The W66 BP is only for 6.5 pads and larger. When I purchased mine I wanted to use it with my
Sonus 6 inch pads but the BP was all the way at the edge of the pad. So for the W66 its 6.5 or larger.
