Re: How much would you ask for my truck?

I'd settle for getting anywhere NEAR book value... but OVER? I haven't seen that in a LONG time.

These days, you're competing with used vehicles that have a warranty, certified pre-owned vehicles, lease returns, and new vehicles with 0% financing. And a lot of people feel more comfortable buying through a dealership.

You're at a tricky price point... it's not a 2 thousand dollar car that someone can flash a wad of cash & drive off in... those sell relatively easily. At your price point, we're talking financing... most people that have that kind of cash lying around are probably going to opt for a new vehicle. It's a tough call. How long are you willing to wait to get your price? The truck is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Research the market... do a search on autotrader, cars.com, craigslist, Edmunds, etc. & see what other Tundras of your year & approximate mileage are asking... remembering that there's some negotiating room built into that pricing. Try to remove emotion and vehicle condition from the equation. If you're priced at the same level as the rest, yet have them beat hands down on condition, yours should sell first. You can even try taking it to Carmax & seeing what they'll give you for it. BTW... they no longer offer "blue book value"... they offer "market value". All the 0% financing of the past few years has flooded the used car market, & driven prices downward.

... or you can stick to your price & wait/hope that the right buyer comes along.

I went through the same thing last year. I sold an immaculate 2001 Mustang GT convertible (premium)... fully loaded, triple white. I was quite offended/insulted at some of the offers, given the condition & mileage (39,000) of the car. In the end, ended up selling it to Carmax. Was an easy, relatively painless process. I had bargained HARD when I bought it, so ended up selling it for $1500 less than I bought it for 2 years previous... not bad, but could've been better were I willing to wait for the theoretical "right" buyer.

Good luck with whatever route you take.
