I have a Denon HD up converter (entry level model) and a 80gig PS3 and I can tell you an up converter is o.k (Denon is a great player too) but doesn't hold a candle to true Hi def. It is night and day difference from up converting to true hi def. I wouldn't have imaged such a dramatic difference to be honest. But the free 5 blue ray movies that were used as a rebate showed up and I was amazed at the quality of the picture (32'' Samsung flat/LCD 720p). If you think up converted movies look good Blue Ray (true hi def in general) WILL amaze you. The movie Sword Fish with the intense colors looks amazing in Blue Ray.
