I don't think it is trouble with design. They are just more spartan than a Lexus. BMW has nice clean lines and tight sporty supportive well bolstered seating. All in all a very high quality feel. Admittedly long trips in a BMW can break your a$$ but shorter trips and just fooling around on the weekends is more fun in this kind of seating. Much better road feel and control when you are playing with curves.
The interior controls for HVAC, nav, and such evade me. I think repairing a copier or solving a rubix cube are easier than figuring out the BMW control system. Very poor design. I bet there are a ton of accidents because of this foolishness. They need to abandon that idea ASAP.
