Re: BMW or Lexus

I have had a Lexus ES330 and LS430 (current). 100,000miles between them and not a single issue. Nothing. No squeaks, rattles, oil leaks, or problems whatsoever. Good mileage, good insurance rates, amazing dealerships, awesome resale, great for long distance and short jaunts, bot have great turning radiuses, and awesome steroe and navigation systems. E330 = 9/10, LS430 = 10+/10.

Have spent a good amount of time in the neighbors ES350 as well and a GS460 the ES is ok. I liked my ES330 better. The GS is amazing!! What a rocket! Nearly as refined as my LS and fast as hell. Pretty darn great handling too. WHAT a car!

My boss has a BWM 5 series. FUN FUN FUN! Looks AWEESOME! Flat out dangerous in the winter or heavy rain. He is a skilled driver to say the very least (been a racer for decades) but has nearly lost the thing a few times. Careful in inclement weather! Also it is costly to maintain. Insurance is pricey and mileage is low. It is NOT designed to be a vehicle that gets good gas mileage! Services are more expensive than my LS an the Beamer (2005) has had a number of piddling issues and a couple larger ones. ALL COMPLETELY covered under warranty as he is still around 40,000 miles. Window electronics, squeaks, a bad suspension part, HVAC issues, an engine miss, ECU and a major fuel system failure. However that said, fun car in the summer! Way funner than the GS.

Let us know how he chooses and what the results are as time goes on.
