Something like a Corolla would be a lot cheaper to insure. My son saved up $6000 over two years, put $4000 down on a 2007 Corolla and finance the rest. He averages 35 mpg and his insurance is very reasonable for him only being 18. He had thought about a Mini but the insurance was more, so was cost of ownership and it was very important to him that he be able to fully afford his own car.
