frostydog: Yes, that's partially the reason I like the smaller backing plate - more flexibility in using smaller pad sizes AND that it gives Flex owners and additional option. Although I have (and use) 7.5" pads, I tend to use the smaller ones more often, perhaps 80-85% of the time.

I will be buying a 5.5" BP if, and when, Flex introduces it...
